1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using the Boston Made Foundation platform at bostonmade.org (the "Platform"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Platform. These Terms apply to all visitors, registered members, and business owners who submit listings.
2. About the Platform
The Boston Made Foundation Platform is operated by Boston Made, Inc. and its philanthropic arm, the Boston Made Foundation. The Platform provides:
- A national business directory for community-connected businesses
- A community feed for members to share updates, resources, and opportunities
- Groups and events for community organizing and networking
- Member profiles for individuals to connect with the broader community
Use of the directory and community features is free. Membership tiers, if offered, are separate from community access and do not gate participation in the directory or community feed.
3. Accounts and Registration
To access community features, you must create an account. You agree to:
- Provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration
- Maintain the security of your password and account credentials
- Notify us promptly at [email protected] of any unauthorized use of your account
- Accept responsibility for all activity that occurs under your account
You must be at least 18 years old to create an account. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.
4. Business Directory Submissions
When you submit a business listing, you represent and warrant that:
- You are authorized to submit information on behalf of the business
- All information provided is accurate, truthful, and not misleading
- The business is real, operating, and community-connected
- You have read and agree to the Community Guidelines
All submissions are reviewed by our moderation team before appearing in the directory. We do not auto-publish listings. We reserve the right to reject, request revisions to, or remove any listing at our discretion. Listing in the directory does not constitute endorsement by Boston Made Foundation.
5. Community Conduct
When participating in the community feed, groups, or events, you agree not to:
- Post content that is harassing, threatening, defamatory, or discriminatory
- Share false or misleading information
- Spam, solicit, or engage in unsolicited commercial promotion
- Impersonate any person or organization
- Post content that violates any applicable law or third-party rights
- Attempt to circumvent any security or access controls on the Platform
Please review our full Community Guidelines for detailed expectations. Violations may result in content removal, account suspension, or permanent ban.
6. Your Content
You retain ownership of content you submit to the Platform. By submitting content, you grant Boston Made Foundation a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to display, distribute, and promote that content in connection with operating and promoting the Platform. This license ends when you delete your content or account, except where content has been shared with others.
You are solely responsible for the content you post. We do not pre-screen community posts but reserve the right to remove content that violates these Terms or our Community Guidelines.
7. Privacy
Your use of the Platform is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. Please review it carefully.
8. Intellectual Property
The Boston Made Foundation name, logo, and Platform design are owned by Boston Made, Inc. You may not use our trademarks, trade dress, or branding without prior written permission. All other content on the Platform is owned by its respective contributors.
9. Disclaimers
THE PLATFORM IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE PLATFORM WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR FREE OF HARMFUL COMPONENTS.
Listing in the directory does not constitute endorsement, recommendation, or verification of any business. We are not responsible for the accuracy of business information submitted by third parties.
10. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, BOSTON MADE, INC. AND THE BOSTON MADE FOUNDATION SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE PLATFORM OR ANY CONTENT THEREON.
11. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to the Platform at any time, with or without notice, for conduct that we believe violates these Terms or is harmful to other users, us, or third parties. You may delete your account at any time by contacting us at [email protected].
12. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify registered members of material changes by email or by posting a notice on the Platform. Continued use of the Platform after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
13. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising under these Terms shall be resolved in the courts of Suffolk County, Massachusetts.
